I found his WW1 Service Records (well whats left of them). He was in the Royal Engineers (B battalion) He join the RE in 1918 however before this he was in the RHA, I believe this to be the Royal Horse Artilliay. James (jnr) married Elizabeth Lily Taylor in 1903 Wandsworth.  They had Frederick William Davis B 1913 who was my grandfather.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I went down LMA and had could not find much.  I have found an entry in the Chelsea area of a James Davis with a fathers name of James John Davis.
